SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of John E. Burns, Sr. of Rock Island, who passed away on November 26, 2015; and

WHEREAS, John Burns, Sr. was born on May 16, 1956 in Rockford; his parents were William and Mary Louise Melton Burns, Sr.; he married Connie Cox on October 18, 1980 in East Moline; and

WHEREAS, John Burns, Sr. served his country as a member of the United States Army; and

WHEREAS, John Burns, Sr. was employed as a machinist at Milan Surplus in Rock Island for many years; and

WHEREAS, John Burns, Sr. was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Patricia and Donna; and his brother, William; and

WHEREAS, John Burns, Sr. is survived by his daughters, Jacqueline (Robert) Azbell, Jani (Jason) Willis, and Jennifer (Tony) Guerrero; his son, John (Kristin) Burns, Jr.; his grandchildren, Ethan Azbell and Britta Burns; his brother, Charles "Chuck" Burns; and his fiancee, Regina DeSplinter; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of John E. Burns, Sr.; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of John Burns, Sr. as an expression of our sympathy.
