SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Donald Smith of Moline, who passed away
4on November 24, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Donald Smith was born on October 7, 1937 in
6Hannibal, Missouri; his parents were Herb and Ida Rothfuss
7Smith; he married Helen Hantz on March 25, 1960 in East Moline;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Donald Smith proudly served as a member of the
10United States Army; during his service, while stationed in
11Japan, he received a commendation for hanging a vital
12communication wire during a typhoon; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Donald Smith worked as a foreman for Case New
14Holland for many years until his retirement in 1993; following
15his retirement, he continued to work for Case New Holland in
16Brazil; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Donald Smith was an avid hunter and a life member
18of the Bi-State Sportsman Association in Colona; he also shot
19in skeet tournaments; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Donald Smith was preceded in death by his parents;

1his grandson, Adam Dobereiner; and his sister, Karen Sue Smith;
2and
 
3    WHEREAS, Donald Smith is survived by his wife, Helen Smith;
4his children, Peter David (Terri) Smith, Lee Ann Dobereiner,
5and Elizabeth (Tim) Krahl; his 7 grandchildren; his 5
6great-grandchildren; his sisters, Linda (Dale) Hurley and
7Diane Halley; and his brothers, Ronald Smith, Ernest (Linda)
8Smith, Mike (Rita) Smith, Larry Smith, and Dennis (Lori) Smith;
9therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
12family and friends, mourn the passing of Donald Smith; and be
13it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Donald Smith as an expression of our
16sympathy.
