SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Effie May Beckett of Blue Mound, who passed away on November 16, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Effie Beckett was born on September 27, 1920 in Farmington, Missouri; her parents were Lemuel J. and Delia E. (nee Alley) Oliver; she married John H. Beckett, Jr. on August 15, 1942; and

WHEREAS, Effie Beckett graduated from Herculaneum High School in Pevely, Missouri; and

WHEREAS, Effie Beckett was a homemaker and a housekeeper for Millikin University for several years; and

WHEREAS, Effie Beckett was a longtime member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church and a member of First Christian Church of Decatur; she was also a graduate of Bible Study Fellowship International and a member of the Decatur Senior Bowling League; and

WHEREAS, Effie Beckett was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John, Jr.; her sons, John L. Beckett, Sr., Robert O. Beckett, and Bradley K. Beckett; and her sisters, Hazel Schanz, Joyce Dunford, and Capitola Pettigo; and

WHEREAS, Effie Beckett is survived by her children, Sally Beck, Tina (Duane) Noland, Tony (Deberah) Beckett, and M. Mark (Pamela) Beckett; her daughter-in-law, Gloria Jean Beckett; her grandchildren, John L. (Lynnette) Beckett, Jr., Hank (Donnette) Beckett, Jason Beckett, George Beck, Grant (Logan) Noland, Blake (Kristin) Noland, Victoria (Matthew) Shugart, Vanessa (Justin Esparza) Leslie, Jarod Beckett, Alex Beckett, and Rachel (Patrick Miller) Beckett; her great-grandchildren, Maggie and Laura Beckett, Emily Beckett, Hudson, Elizabeth, and Harrison Noland, Bryce Shugart, and Landen and Jaden Esparza; and her special friends, Denise Rudd and Anita Burris; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of Effie May Beckett; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Effie Beckett as an expression of our sympathy.
