SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Donna Jean Brookhart of Peoria, who passed away on November 7, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Donna Brookhart was born in Peoria on December 13, 1938 to Robert and Irene (nee Stenger) Carroll; she graduated from Brimfield High School; she received her bachelor's degree from Marycrest College in Davenport, Iowa and her master's degree from Bradley University; she married Dr. Gerald M. Brookhart on August 6, 1960; and

WHEREAS, Donna Brookhart was the Department Chair and taught home economics at Illinois Valley Central High School, retiring in 2001; and

WHEREAS, Donna Brookhart was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Pat Wilkinson; and

WHEREAS, Donna Brookhart is survived by her husband, Gerald; her daughters, Debbie (Levi) Blair, Susan Canty, Katie (Paul) Coogan, and Tracy (Steve) Smith; her grandchildren, Ryan, Erin, Charlie, and Jack Coogan, Matthew, Maddie, Ben, and Timmy Canty, and Riley, Ellen, and Anna Smith; her siblings, Gerald (Linda) Carroll, Betty (Bob) Gorman, and Richard (Caroll) Carroll; her special friend, Jacquie Berg; her 2 aunts; several nieces and nephews; and a host of domino, bridge club, and neighborhood friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Donna Jean Brookhart, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Donna Brookhart as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
