SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert M. Bestor of rural East Moline, who passed away on October 31, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Robert Bestor was born in Geneseo on July 18, 1918 to Clyde and Verna Hornecker Bestor; he graduated from Geneseo High School and attended Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Missouri; he served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corp in the South Pacific during World War II; he married Irene Morgan in Pasadena, California on October 21, 1945; and

WHEREAS, Robert Bestor, along with his brother, Stan, owned and operated many businesses in and around Geneseo, including Bestor Brothers, an automotive dealership, and Geneseo Hotel, where they opened the Cellar Restaurant; they also developed many businesses on all 4 corners of the Geneseo exit of Interstate 80, including the Deck Gas & Oil and the Deck Restaurant & Motel, among others; and

WHEREAS, Robert Bestor enjoyed fishing, gardening, traveling, and working; and

WHEREAS, Robert Bestor was preceded in death by his wife, Irene; his parents; his son, Jeffrey; and his brother, Stan; and

WHEREAS, Robert Bestor is survived by his son, Greg Bestor; his daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Jack Morgan; his granddaughter, Kami Ramsgate; his 2 great-grandsons, Wyatt and Chase; his 3 step-grandchildren, Russell Morgan, Jackie Lorman, and Thomas Morgan; and numerous step-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Robert M. Bestor, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert Bestor as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
