SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Clifford R. "Cliff" Montgomery of Coal Valley, who passed away on November 1, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Cliff Montgomery was born in Rock Island on June 4, 1942 to Clifford R. and Bethel Rose (nee Adam) Montgomery; he served in the United States Navy; and

WHEREAS, Cliff Montgomery was a well-known insurance agent for State Farm for over 25 years; he retired from State Farm and went on to do remarkable things with the Milan Lanes bowling center; he branched off the center to establish his lifelong dream of owning a restaurant, Skinny Legs BBQ; and

WHEREAS, Cliff Montgomery contributed 11 years of his time toward the PGA Tour events in the Quad Cities and was a member and board member of the Moline Jaycees and Co-Chairman for the first 2 years of the Jaycee Q-C Open; he also contributed toward many charities, such as St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the Special Olympics; and

WHEREAS, Cliff Montgomery enjoyed his family, friends, golf, reading, sports, fishing, and traveling; and

WHEREAS, Cliff Montgomery was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Gary Montgomery; and

WHEREAS, Cliff Montgomery is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Tracy (Michael) Gray, Sara (Todd) Harris, and Julie Montgomery; his 13 grandchildren; and his niece, Tyrina Montgomery; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Clifford R. "Cliff" Montgomery, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Cliff Montgomery as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
