SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Barbara J. Burgess, who passed away on October 19, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Burgess was born in Wood River on March 11, 1935 to Edward Oscar and Helen Charlotte (nee Hinthorne) Lindquist; she was formerly married to Charles G. Duckels; she later married Gillum "Jim" Burgess in Meadowbrook; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Burgess was a secretary with the State of Missouri; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Burgess was a member of Emmanuel Free Methodist Church in Alton and was in involved in the Quilters Circle at the church; she was a past member of the Eastern Star in Chesterfield and the Christian Women's Club of Alton; she loved spending time with her family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Burgess was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; her parents; her aunt, Helen Lindquist; and her nephew, Rob Pritzker; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Burgess is survived by her 2 sons and their spouses, Dan and Gail Duckels and Dean and Julia Duckels; her grandchildren and their spouses, Amanda Duckels, David Duckels, Whitney and Cory Brockmeyer, Lyndsay and Erik Casad, and Julie and Danny Loftis; her 5 great-grandchildren, Tyson, Tyra, Dalton, Cassie, and Easton; her 2 sisters and a brother-in-law, Donna Pritzker and Sherri and Larry Rose; her aunt, Catherine Pomeroy; and her nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Barbara J. Burgess, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Barbara Burgess as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
