SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Richard Carl "Dick" Schwarz of Peoria,
4who passed away on October 15, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dick Schwarz was born in Ashtabula, Ohio on
6September 4, 1937 to Harold and Laura (nee Bratton) Schwarz; he
7was valedictorian of his class in Edgewood High School, where
8he excelled in high school sports and held the county records
9in high jump and high hurdles for many years; he graduated from
10Kent State University, majoring in geology and was a member of
11Sigma Nu Fraternity; he married Myrna Wilson on November 14,
121964 at Highland Presbyterian Church in Street, Maryland; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Dick Schwarz was employed by American Water Works
14Company, Inc., where he worked for 7 subsidiary companies in 4
15states over his 38-year career, ending in Peoria, where he
16retired as manager of the Northern Division of Illinois
17American Water Company in 1999; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Dick Schwarz was a Rotarian for 38 years, 10 years
19in Belleville, where he served as President, and 28 years with
20the Peoria Downtown Rotary; he was Chairman of the Board for
21the Belleville Area Chamber of Commerce and Chairman of the
22Board for Belleville-Fairview Heights Junior Achievement; he

1is a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow and received the Louis B.
2Neumiller Founders Award for Junior Achievement of Central
3Illinois in Peoria; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Dick Schwarz loved the outdoors and enjoyed
5hunting, fishing, boating, walking in the woods, picking morel
6mushrooms, and practicing amateur taxidermy; he was a member of
7United Presbyterian Church in Peoria, where he served as a
8deacon; he is a member of his high school Hall of Fame; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Dick Schwarz was preceded in death by his parents;
10and
 
11    WHEREAS, Dick Schwarz is survived by his wife of 50 years,
12Myrna; his 2 sons, Richard "Rick", Jr. (Jody) and Cyril "Cy"
13(Karolee); his 3 grandchildren, Justin, Kaitlyn, and Matthew
14Schwarz; his brother, Robert (Mary); his 7 nephews; and his
15niece; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
18Richard Carl "Dick" Schwarz, and extend our sincere condolences
19to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
20it further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
