SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Leo L. Bartels of Moline, who passed away
4on August 23, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Leo Bartels was born in Davenport, Iowa on April
62, 1926 to William Orly and Dora D. Dawson Bartels; he served
7in the United States Navy during World War II; he served as a
82nd Class Radioman and was part of the first wave to invade
9Okinawa; he married Beverly L. Bailey in Rock Island on October
1024, 1953; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Leo Bartels worked as a toll testman for Illinois
12Bell for 35 years, retiring 1982; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Leo Bartels loved gardening and feeding the birds;
14he was a true craftsman and loved woodworking; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Leo Bartels was preceded in death by his parents;
16his 2 brothers; and his sister; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Leo Bartels is survived by his wife, Beverly; his
18children, Linda (Chuck) Smith, Michael (Carol) Bartels, Carol
19L. Bartels, Breck Bartels, Rhonda (Bill) Attwood, Kim (Chuck)
20Hansen, and Todd (Wendy) Bartels; his 15 grandchildren; his 14

1great-grandchildren; his brother, Lyle L. (Bonnie) Bartels;
2and his sister, Juanita Bockholder Bartels; therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
5Leo L. Bartels, and extend our sincere condolences to his
6family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
7further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Leo Bartels as an expression of our
10deepest sympathy.
