SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

220 ILCS 5/9-228 new

Amends the Public Utilities Act. Provides that no later than June 30, 2017, the Illinois Commerce Commission shall conduct at least one workshop and issue a report concerning how the State can continue to encourage electric utilities in their efforts to evaluate emerging technologies, products, and services associated with the provision of electric service. Effective immediately.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Public Utilities Act is amended by adding Section 9-228 as follows:

(220 ILCS 5/9-228 new)

Sec. 9-228. Electric utility emerging technology report. No later than June 30, 2017, the Commission shall conduct at least one workshop and issue a report concerning how the State can continue to encourage electric utilities in their efforts to evaluate emerging technologies, products, and services associated with the provision of electric service to provide their customers with reliable, efficient, and safe electric service.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
