SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
20 ILCS 801/20-5

    Amends the Department of Natural Resources Act. Provides that the State shall operate an Illinois State Museum in Springfield and at branch sites at Dickson Mounds, Lockport, Rend Lake, and the James R. Thompson Center. Provides that the Illinois State Museum and all branch sites shall be open to the public. Provides that the Illinois State Museum shall operate a Research and Collections Center to research, preserve, and maintain access to the extensive Illinois State Museum collections. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning State government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Department of Natural Resources Act is
5amended by changing Section 20-5 as follows:
 
6    (20 ILCS 801/20-5)
7    Sec. 20-5. State Museum. The State shall operate an
8Illinois State Museum in Springfield and at branch sites at
9Dickson Mounds, Lockport, Rend Lake, and the James R. Thompson
10Center. The Illinois State Museum and all branch sites shall be
11open to the public. The Illinois State Museum shall operate a
12research and collections center to research, preserve, and
13maintain access to the extensive Illinois State Museum
14collections. The Department of Natural Resources shall have
15within it the office of the Illinois State Museum. The Board of
16the Illinois State Museum is retained as the governing board
17for the State Museum.

19    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
20becoming law.
