HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the members of the Morton High School Boys Golf Team on the occasion of their unbelievably successful 2015 season; and

WHEREAS, The team finished 11-1 in dual matches and had a list of 1st place finishes at the invitational tournaments, including the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational, the Limestone Invitational, the U-High Invitational, the Monmouth Invitational, and the Mattoon Invitational; and

WHEREAS, The Morton High School Boys Golf Team is a part of the Mid-Illini Conference; in the regular season conference matches, the team had an impressive record of 7-0 and ended conference play by winning the Mid-Illini conference tournament; and

WHEREAS, The Regional Tournament was held at Metamora Fields, where the team won by 16 strokes; team members Pete Kuhl and Tommy Kuhl tied for second place and Isaac Ingold had a fourth place finish; and

WHEREAS, The Sectional Tournament was held at Lincoln Elks, where the team won by 13 strokes; Tommy Kuhl finished in third place and Pete Kuhl tied for fourth place; and

WHEREAS, The State Tournament was held at Weibring Golf Club in Normal; the team capped off its season with a victory, winning by 23 strokes and resulting in their Boys 2A State Golf Championship victory; and

WHEREAS, All-State Golfer and Peoria Journal Star Golfer of the Year, Pete Kuhl, finished in fifth place; and

WHEREAS, The Morton High School Boys Golf Team also won the 2A State Championship in 2014; and

WHEREAS, The varsity team members are Pete Kuhl, Tommy Kuhl, Isaac Ingold, Bobby Strode, Adam Christianson, Carter LeRoy and Jack Zern; Jamie King has been the Morton High School Boys Golf team head coach for 3 years; and

WHEREAS, The members of the Morton High School Boys Golf Team serve as models of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the members of the 2015 Morton High School Boys Golf Team on the occasion of winning the Class 2A State Golf Championship and wish them continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Morton High School Boys Golf Team as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
