HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the members of both the Lewistown Central girls seventh grade basketball team and the Lewistown Central girls eighth grade basketball team on their Illinois Elementary School Association Class 2A State titles; and

WHEREAS, The Lewistown Central seventh grade team finished their State championship season with an impressive record of 24-4; and

WHEREAS, The Lewistown Central eighth grade team finished their State championship season with an undefeated record of 28-0, with no opponents coming within 10 points of the team all season long; this team finished in second place the previous season as seventh graders and had a junior high record of 54-2; and

WHEREAS, This is an impressive achievement for Lewistown Central girls athletics; only a few times in IESA basketball history have both the seventh and eighth grade teams from the same school earned State titles; and

WHEREAS, Lewistown girls athletics have won 4 State titles in 2015, including volleyball and track and field crowns; and

WHEREAS, The members of the Lewistown Central seventh grade basketball team are Lydia Cripe, Brenna Clark, Raquel Frakes, Haley Lansford, Kate Heffren, Macy Mikulich, Odessa Grove, Avery Smith, and Addison Yurkovich; and

WHEREAS, The members of the Lewistown Central eighth grade basketball team are Cortney Hopkins, Carli Heffren, Anna Heffren, Raquel Frakes, Kate Heffren, Sydney Shaeffer, Chloe Hickle, Alex Ebert, Kennedy Mayberry, Libby Hopkins, Avery Smith, and Kaeli Spotloe; and

WHEREAS, These teams are led by head coach and athletic director Mitch Conway; the assistant coaches are Rachel Row and Delanie Monn and the managers are Karissa Duncan, Josey Moore, and Sydnee Duffield; the school's principal is Clay Ginglen; the Assistant Superintendent is Richard Well and the Superintendent is Jeanne Davis; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the members of the Lewistown Central girls seventh grade and eighth grade basketball teams on their Illinois Elementary School Association Class 2A State titles and wish them many more years of success in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to the Lewistown Central girls seventh grade and eighth grade basketball teams as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
