HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Tom Kavicky on the occasion of his retirement as Safety Director and Assistant to the President for the Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters; and

WHEREAS, Tom Kavicky was appointed as Safety Director in 1998 and as Assistant to the President for the Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters in 2001; and

WHEREAS, Throughout his 45 years of service, Tom Kavicky was instrumental in establishing relationships inclusive of union and non-union contractors which were critical to the success of the safety program and ensuring safe working conditions; and

WHEREAS, In addition to his service for the Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters, Tom Kavicky served in the Office of Trustee for Millwright Local 1693 and was a Millwright and Welding instructor and assistant coordinator for the George Vest Carpenter Apprentice and Training Program; and

WHEREAS, Tom Kavicky's influence and service extended beyond the boundaries of Millwright Local 1693 and the Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters, including serving as Liaison to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration Region V offices, United States Department of Labor Delegate to the Tri-National Tripartite Construction Conference, Representative to the Illinois Department of Labor, Representative to the Illinois Department of Health, Executive Board Member of the Chicago Area Committee on Occupational Safety and Health, and Employee Representative to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration Advisory Committee for Construction Safety and Health in Washington, D.C. from 2004 to 2012; and

WHEREAS, Tom Kavicky is a well-respected member and an expert in his trade; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Tom Kavicky on his retirement and wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Tom Kavicky as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
