HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Bruce E. Carter, A.A.E., Director of Aviation at the Quad City International Airport, on receiving the 2014 Distinguished Service Award from the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE); and

WHEREAS, The annual Distinguished Service Award is one of the AAAE's highest levels of recognition; the award is a reflection of outstanding accomplishments in the professional and personal life of the recipient; the recipient also contributes to other aviation organizations, serves the AAAE and its chapters, and participates in civic and community affairs; the award winner exemplifies the best in airport management by continually bringing credit to the profession and the aviation community; all winners are Accredited Airport Executives (A.A.E.) and exemplify the standards that accreditation seeks to inspire; and

WHEREAS, Bruce Carter began his 40-year career as an air traffic controller in Des Moines, Iowa and has held Director of Aviation positions in Waterloo, Iowa, and in Springfield and Peoria; he joined the Quad City International Airport executive team in 1999; he currently serves as a Second Past President of the AAAE Board of Directors and is a Past President of the Great Lakes Chapter AAAE; and

WHEREAS, Bruce Carter is a valued colleague and is well-known for his leadership in the nation's airport management community and the broader aviation industry; distinguished service has been a hallmark of his career during his 4 decades in the industry; and

WHEREAS, Bruce Carter was announced as the 2014 recipient of the Distinguished Service Award at the 86th annual AAAE Conference and Exposition held in San Antonio, Texas in May; he was presented with the award at the Metropolitan Airport Authority of Rock Island County board meeting in December; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Bruce E. Carter, A.A.E., Director of Aviation at the Quad City International Airport, on receiving the 2014 Distinguished Service Award from the American Association of Airport Executives; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Bruce Carter as an expression of our esteem and respect.
