HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. Sol Tannebaum; and

WHEREAS, Sol Tannebaum was a first-generation American who proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II; and

WHEREAS, Sol Tannebaum returned to Illinois to attend the Illinois College of Optometry, receiving his O.D. degree in 1948; he subsequently began a 40-year career as an optometrist in Olympia Fields; and

WHEREAS, Sol Tannebaum was committed not only to the health and well-being of the community he called home, but to the world at large, volunteering on 16 mission trips to provide eye care to the poor in third world countries, serving as a visiting professor at the European College of Optometry, and participating in cooperative eye care programs in the Dominican Republic and China; and

WHEREAS, Sol Tannebaum loved his home communities of Park Ridge and Olympia Fields and was a beloved member of the South Suburban community; he was known for his regular column in the Park Forest Recorder; and

WHEREAS, Sol Tannebaum will also be remembered as a devoted husband, caring father, and loving grandfather by his wife, Marilynn; his son, Dr. Ross Tannebaum; his daughter, Lisa Tannebaum Brownstein; his son-in-law, Donald Brownstein; and his grandchildren, Alex, Andrew, Chase, and Blake; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, honor and mourn the passing of Dr. Sol Tannebaum; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dr. Sol Tannebaum as a symbol of our deep appreciation of his service to his country and his community.
