HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. Sol
4Tannebaum; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Sol Tannebaum was a first-generation American who
6proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II;
7and
 
8    WHEREAS, Sol Tannebaum returned to Illinois to attend the
9Illinois College of Optometry, receiving his O.D. degree in
101948; he subsequently began a 40-year career as an optometrist
11in Olympia Fields; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Sol Tannebaum was committed not only to the health
13and well-being of the community he called home, but to the
14world at large, volunteering on 16 mission trips to provide eye
15care to the poor in third world countries, serving as a
16visiting professor at the European College of Optometry, and
17participating in cooperative eye care programs in the Dominican
18Republic and China; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Sol Tannebaum loved his home communities of Park
20Ridge and Olympia Fields and was a beloved member of the South
21Suburban community; he was known for his regular column in the

1Park Forest Recorder; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Sol Tannebaum will also be remembered as a devoted
3husband, caring father, and loving grandfather by his wife,
4Marilynn; his son, Dr. Ross Tannebaum; his daughter, Lisa
5Tannebaum Brownstein; his son-in-law, Donald Brownstein; and
6his grandchildren, Alex, Andrew, Chase, and Blake; therefore,
7be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
9NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
10we, along with his family and friends, honor and mourn the
11passing of Dr. Sol Tannebaum; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Dr. Sol Tannebaum as a symbol of our
14deep appreciation of his service to his country and his
15community.
