HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Albert G. "Bert" D'Ottavio on completing the 107th Chicago to Mackinac Island Sailboat Race on July 11, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Bert D'Ottavio has completed 40 Chicago to Mackinac Island Sailboat Races; and

WHEREAS, Bert D'Ottavio won the Chicago to Mackinac Island Sailboat Race in 1983 and 1995; and

WHEREAS, Bert D'Ottavio currently helms a Santa Cruz GL 70, the Thirsty Tiger; and

WHEREAS, Bert D'Ottavio served as Commodore of the Chicago Yacht Club (CYC) from 2004 to 2005; the Chicago to Mackinac Island Sailboat Race is one of CYC's signature events, as well as the longest running freshwater race in the world; and

WHEREAS, Bert D'Ottavio has experienced sailboat racing all over the world, but says that the "MAC" always seems to provide the most memorable racing and the most varied of conditions; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Albert G. "Bert" D'Ottavio on completing the 107th Chicago to Mackinac Island Sailboat Race and we wish him many more successful years of sailboat racing; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Bert D'Ottavio as an expression of our esteem and respect.
