HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the Washington Community High School Girls Softball Team on their remarkable 2014-2015 season; and

WHEREAS, After defeating Limestone 10-0 and East Peoria 6-5 at the Regional Championship, Metamora 5-3 and Bloomington 1-0 in 11 innings at Sectionals, Peotone 6-5 in 8 innings at Super Sectionals, the Washington Community High School Lady Panthers defeated Sacred Heart-Griffin 5-3 in 10 innings and Marengo 2-1 to win the 3A Softball State Championship game on June 13, 2015; and

WHEREAS, This victory is the first State Championship trophy in the program's history and the first State appearance since 1991; and

WHEREAS, The team finished the season with a spectacular 29-10 record; and

WHEREAS, The Washington softball team always won in extra innings or came back from being behind; this not only made all of the fans nervous but it also earned them the nickname "Cardiac Kids"; and

WHEREAS, The team members are Kaitlyn Keeley, Jordan Heinz, Sam Garcia, Erin Webb, Abby Weisbruch, Kayla Ford, Madi McCoy, Addie Baele, Jess Earl, Morgan Osborn, Laura Heuermann, Lexie Carlsten, Dara Megyesi, Savannah Budd, Zoe Wetherell, Jordan Guedet, Libby Lindsey, April Hoover, Molly Gilles, and Shelby Summer; and

WHEREAS, Stephanie Ramsey is the team's head coach; Clint Reed, Lyle Baele, Katy Warren, and Denny Cassulo are all Assistant Coaches; Ronnie Schroen is the scorekeeper; and

WHEREAS, The Washington Community High School Girls Softball Team is a model for success, setting team records and showing strong moral character; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Washington Community High School Girls Softball Team on its successful 2014-2015 season and State Championship, and we wish them great success in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Washington Community High School players as well as their coaches as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
