| 2 | | WHEREAS, Jesse M. Campbell, age 37, is an American | 3 | | Thoroughbred horse racing jockey who resides in Barrington and | 4 | | grew up in Lake Zurich; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Jesse Campbell achieved a rare professional | 6 | | milestone on May 18, 2015, when he won his 2,000th race aboard | 7 | | Sweet Grass Creek at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto, Canada, | 8 | | adding to a career earnings total that fewer than 100 jockeys | 9 | | in the history of the sport have attained; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Jesse Campbell has more than 2,000 second-place | 11 | | and more than 2,000 third-place finishes in a distinguished | 12 | | career that includes the 2013 first-place finish aboard | 13 | | Midnight Aria in the Queen's Plate, which is renowned as | 14 | | "Canada's Kentucky Derby"; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Jesse Campbell comes from a four-generation horse | 16 | | racing family, which includes his twin brother Joel Campbell, a | 17 | | Chicago-area businessman who also professionally rides | 18 | | Thoroughbreds and has 780 jockey wins, and his father Michael | 19 | | Campbell, a horse trainer who currently serves as president of | 20 | | the Illinois Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association; and

| 1 | | career at age 17 in 1995, winning his first race on July 20 of | 2 | | that year aboard Apostle Island, a horse trained by his father | 3 | | and bred by his grandfather, at Arlington Park Racetrack in | 4 | | Illinois; he quickly gained notoriety the following season as | 5 | | "Apprentice Rider of the Year" at Hawthorne Park Racetrack; | 6 | | nearly 20 years later, he was blessed to have his wife, Allyson | 7 | | Campbell, his daughter, Madison Campbell, and his mother, | 8 | | Janice Campbell, in attendance to celebrate his 2,000th victory | 9 | | at Woodbine; therefore, be it
| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 11 | | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | 12 | | congratulate Jesse Campbell on the occasion of entering that | 13 | | elite status of Thoroughbred jockeys to have won 2,000 races | 14 | | and wish him continued success in the future; and be it further
