HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the members of the Washington Community High School Wrestling Team on the occasion of their unbelievably successful 2014-2015 season; and

WHEREAS, The team brought home the first State wrestling trophy in their school's history with their second place finish at the IHSA Class 2A State meet; the team had several Class 2A Washington State Qualifiers, Placers, and Champions; and

WHEREAS, Trey Keeley, a junior, was a State Runner-Up at 106 pounds; Dack Punke, a sophomore, was a State Runner-Up at 113 pounds; Elijah Oliver, a senior, won his fourth State title at 120 pounds; Ethan Reel, a junior, had a third place finish at 126 pounds; Blaize Punke, a freshman, was a State Qualifier at 132 pounds; Ryder Punke, a junior, was a State Qualifier at 138 pounds; Randy Meneweather, a junior, was a State Champion at 160 pounds; Jacob Warner, a sophomore, was a State Champion at 170 pounds; Jacob Godinez, a senior, was a State Runner-Up at 220 pounds; and Brad Howe, a senior, was a State Qualifier at 285 pounds; and

WHEREAS, The Dual Team completed their season with a record of 21-6 and qualified for the Dual Team Tournament by winning the Class 2A Metamora Regional; and

WHEREAS, The Dual Team had an impressive list of accomplishments during their Dual Team IHSA State Series; they defeated Lincoln Way West in the Dual Team Sectional 45-24 and defeated Geneseo in the State Quarterfinals 36-30; they subsequently defeated Oak Forest in the State Semifinals 33-28; the team also won the Sycamore Invitational and placed second at the Granite City Holiday Invitational; and

WHEREAS, The members of the Dual Team State Roster include Justin Fernald, Jacob Godinez, Kyle Goin, Will Hammer, Brad Howe, Trey Keeley, Randy Meneweather, Caleb Miller, Zac Miller, Elijah Oliver, Manny Plata, Blaize Punke, Dack Punke, Ryder Punke, Ethan Reel, Adam Robison, Ethan Sperry, and Jacob Warner; Bryan Medlin is the team's Head Coach and the team's assistant coaches include Nick Miller, Jason Medlin, Randy Meneweather, Derek Mcintosh, Mike Carr, and Colton Gladwell; and

WHEREAS, The members of the Washington Community High School Wrestling Team serve as models of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the members of the Washington Community High School Wrestling Team on the occasion of their second place finish at the State Tournament and wish them continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Washington Community High School Wrestling Team members and their coaches as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
