HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the Morton High School Lady Potters on its remarkable 2014-2015 season, finishing with a record of 33 wins and 3 losses, and winning the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Class 3A State Championship; and

WHEREAS, The team had a successful season with several impressive highlights including a win at the Morton Thanksgiving Tournament and the Mid-Illini Conference; and

WHEREAS, This year's victory at the Galesburg Winter Classic marks the Lady Potter's 5th consecutive championship at the tournament; and

WHEREAS, The 2014-2015 Lady Potter's set a school record of 33 wins as well as a team record of 472 free throws; and

WHEREAS, The team was the IHSA Morton Regional Champions, the IHSA LaSalle-Peru Sectional Champions, and the IHSA Romeoville Super Sectional Champions; and

WHEREAS, The team had 2 noteworthy wins against defending State champions Lombard Montini in the Final Four with a score of 58-44, and against Rochester in the Class 3A State Championship game with a score of 47-37; and

WHEREAS, The team finished off its season with a IHSA Class 3A State Championship; and

WHEREAS, Bob Becker has been the team's head coach for 16 years now and has a 348-139 record; the assistant coaches are Rodney Knuppel, Megan Hasler, Bill Davis, and Brooke Bisping; managers of the team are Charis Short and Jossie Weller; and

WHEREAS, The Lady Potters include: Seniors, Kathleen Sauders and Emma Heisler; Juniors, Chandler Ryan, Kayla McCormick, and Jadison Wharram; Sophomores, Alexis Opel, Brandi Bisping, Lisa Walter, and Jacey Wharram; and Freshmen, Josi Becker, Kassidy Shurman, Jena Liddle, Crystal Cobler, and Caylie Jones; and

WHEREAS, The Morton High School Lady Potters team was a model for success, setting team records and showing their strong moral character; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Lady Potters on its successful 2014-2015 season and State Championship, and we wish them great success in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Morton High School Lady Potters Team as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
