HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Rosa Lee Gibbs of Chicago, who passed away on March 31, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Rosa Gibbs was born in Washington, Mississippi on October 5, 1902 to Dora and Theodore Stewart; she later moved to Gary, Indiana and married Frank Gibbs and they moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and

WHEREAS, Rosa Gibbs moved to Chicago in 1986 to live with her daughter; she was a member of Greater Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Rosa Gibbs worked for the Quarter Master's Defense Company for many years; and

WHEREAS, Rosa Gibbs was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; her parents; and her 10 siblings; and

WHEREAS, Rosa Gibbs is survived by her daughter, Margaret Woodside; her 2 grandchildren, Deborah Woodside and Valerie Woodside; her 2 great-grandchildren, Jaleesa Woodside and Jeremy Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends, and church family; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Rosa Lee Gibbs, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Rosa Gibbs as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
