HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Lisa D. Thurston on the occasion of her retirement as Executive Director of Southern Five Regional Planning District and Development Commission; and

WHEREAS, Lisa Thurston graduated from Century High School in 1989; she earned her Associate in Science in 1991 from Shawnee Community College and her Bachelor of Science from Southeast Missouri State University in 1993; and

WHEREAS, Lisa Thurston spent her early career working for Shawnee Community College and the Shawnee Development Council; she joined the Southern Five Regional Planning District and Development Commission in 1993 as the Controller; she became the Executive Director in 1997; she received her Master of Science in Management in 2010; and

WHEREAS, Lisa Thurston and her husband, Jerry P. Thurston, have been married for 25 years and have three children, Nathan, George "Drew", and Rachel; she is the daughter of Joyce Rider Inman and the late George Inman; and

WHEREAS, A community party will be held in Lisa Thurston's honor at Southern Five Regional on June 22, 2016; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Lisa D. Thurston on her retirement as Executive Director of Southern Five Regional Planning District and Development Commission and we wish her the best in all her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Lisa Thurston as an expression of our esteem and respect.
