HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Gary
4Hongsermeier of Irvington, who passed away on May 14, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gary Hongsermeier was born on August 23, 1960 in
6Centralia; his parents were Harry and Bernice Westermeyer
7Hongsermeier; he farmed in the Hoyleton area for many years and
8was a great leader and friend of southwestern Illinois; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Gary Hongsermeier was a member of Zion United
10Church of Christ in Hoyleton, where he served on the church
11council and the cemetery committee; he was dedicated to serving
12his community and was a proud member of the Irvington Ruritan
13Club, where he committed himself to the club's motto of
14"Fellowship, Goodwill, and Community Service"; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Gary Hongsermeier served on the Irvington Village
16Board and the Washington County Soil and Water Board; he was a
17long time Jaycee and served as the President of the Illinois
18Jaycee Senate; he was a staunch supporter and asset to Illinois
19State Representative Charlie Meier; he was also active in the
20Washington County Republican Party and enjoyed participating
21in competitive barbecue events; and

1    WHEREAS, Gary Hongsermeier was preceded in death by his
2parents; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Gary Hongsermeier is survived by his sisters,
4Nancy Fechtler, Patty (Terry) Mount, and Judy Hongsermeier; his
5nephews, Adam Fechtler and Jeremy Mount and special friend,
6Lauren Edwards; his niece, Becky (Tim) Arndt; and seven
7great-nieces and great-nephews; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
9NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
10mourn the passing of Gary Hongsermeier and extend our sincere
11condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
12him; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Gary Hongsermeier as an expression
15of our deepest sympathy.
