HOUSE RESOLUTION

BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we urge public and charter schools to post, in English and Spanish, the following information using a format and language that is clear, simple, and understandable to students:

(1) the current toll-free telephone number of the Department of Children and Family Services' child abuse hotline;

(2) instructions to call 9-1-1 for emergencies; and

(3) instructions for accessing the Department of Children and Family Services' website for more information on reporting abuse, neglect, and exploitation; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we urge this information be posted at each school campus in at least one high-traffic, highly and clearly visible public area that is readily accessible to and widely used by students; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we urge schools to print posters with this information themselves or to obtain posters from the Department of Children and Family Services or any other child protection agency; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be delivered to each public and charter school in the State.
