HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the Morton High School Lady Potters Girls Basketball team on its remarkable 2015-2016 season, finishing with a record of 33 wins and 3 losses and winning the Illinois High School Association Class 3A State Championship; and

WHEREAS, The Lady Potters had a successful season with several impressive highlights, including a win at the Morton Thanksgiving Tournament and the Mid-Illini Conference; and

WHEREAS, This year's victory at the Galesburg Winter Classic marks the sixth consecutive championship at the tournament for the Lady Potters; and

WHEREAS, The 2015-2016 Lady Potters tied a school record of 33 wins and were the IHSA Bloomington Regional Champions, the IHSA Galesburg Sectional Champions, and the IHSA Bureau Valley Super Sectional Champions; and

WHEREAS, The Lady Potters have now won back-to-back State Titles, finishing this season with two noteworthy wins against Chicago Morgan Park in the Final Four with a score of 54-39 and against Chicago North Lawndale in the Class 3A State Championship game with a score of 58-41; and

WHEREAS, The Lady Potters finished off the season with their second consecutive IHSA Class 3A State Championship; and

WHEREAS, Bob Becker has been the head coach of the Lady Potters for 17 years and has a 381-142 record; the assistant coaches are Megan Hasler, Bill Davis, and Brooke Bisping and the team manager is Sean Patterson; and

WHEREAS, The Lady Potters include seniors Chandler Ryan, Kayla McCormick, Baylee Fogal, and Jadison Wharram; juniors Brandi Bisping and Jacey Wharram; sophomores Josi Becker, Kassidy Shurman, Jena Liddle, Crystal Cobler, and Caylie Jones; and freshman Tenley Dowell and Bridget Wood; and

WHEREAS, The Morton High School Lady Potters serve as models for success, setting team records and showing their strong moral character; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Morton High School Lady Potters Girls Basketball team on its successful 2015-2016 season and State Championship and wish them great success in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Lady Potters as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
