HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that we pay honor and respect to the truly great individuals who have served our country, and in doing so, have gone above and beyond the call of duty to make the ultimate sacrifice for our nation; and

WHEREAS, Kerry Michael Bugajsky joined the United States Army on January 16, 1967; and

WHEREAS, Specialist Fourth Class Bugajsky served as a mortar man with C Company, 4th Battalion, 23rd Infantry, 25th Infantry Division in the Iron Triangle in Vietnam; and

WHEREAS, Specialist Fourth Class Bugajsky died on January 19, 1968 when he was hit during heavy mortar fire in the Chu Chi area of Vietnam; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate the portion of Route 14 between Christopher and Benton as the "SP4 Kerry M. Bugajsky Memorial Highway"; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation is requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with State and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs giving notice of the name the "SP4 Kerry M. Bugajsky Memorial Highway"; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to the family of Specialist Fourth Class Bugajsky and the Secretary of the Illinois Department of Transportation.
