SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
110 ILCS 305/12.10 new

    Amends the University of Illinois Act. Requires the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to conduct a study with regard to public elementary and secondary school buildings that have been closed within 5 years before the effective date of the amendatory Act. Requires the study to determine how many of the school buildings have remained schools, how many have been successfully redeveloped, and how many are vacant. Provides that the University shall report its findings and recommendations for facilitating successful redevelopment of these school buildings to the General Assembly.

1    AN ACT concerning education.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The University of Illinois Act is amended by
5adding Section 12.10 as follows:
 
6    (110 ILCS 305/12.10 new)
7    Sec. 12.10. Study on closed elementary and secondary school
8buildings. The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
9shall conduct a study with regard to public elementary and
10secondary school buildings that have been closed within 5 years
11before the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 99th
12General Assembly. The study shall determine how many of the
13school buildings have remained schools, how many have been
14successfully redeveloped, and how many are vacant. The
15University shall report its findings and recommendations for
16facilitating successful redevelopment of these school
17buildings to the General Assembly by filing copies of its
18report as provided in Section 3.1 of the General Assembly
19Organization Act.
