SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
305 ILCS 5/12-4.49 new

    Amends the Illinois Public Aid Code. Requires the Department of Healthcare and Family Services to create a 3-year Diabetes Prevention Pilot Program to establish an evidence-based diabetes prevention program in St. Clair County, DeKalb County, and Rock Island County from funds appropriated for that purpose. Provides that the Department shall designate a single community-based, not-for-profit provider of healthy living services to manage and administer the pilot program; and that the designated provider shall receive reimbursement under the medical assistance program for the diabetes prevention programs established under the pilot program. Grants the Department rulemaking authority. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning public aid.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by
5adding Section 12-4.49 as follows:
 
6    (305 ILCS 5/12-4.49 new)
7    Sec. 12-4.49. Diabetes Prevention Pilot Program. From
8funds appropriated for that purpose, the Department of
9Healthcare and Family Services shall create a 3-year Diabetes
10Prevention Pilot Program to establish an evidence-based
11diabetes prevention program in St. Clair County, DeKalb County,
12and Rock Island County. To implement the pilot program, the
13Department shall designate a single community-based,
14not-for-profit provider of healthy living services to manage
15and administer the pilot program. The designated provider shall
16receive reimbursement under the medical assistance program for
17the diabetes prevention programs established under the pilot
18program. The Department shall adopt rules in cooperation with
19the Department of Healthcare and Family Services to implement
20this Section.
 
21    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
22becoming law.
