SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Thomas J. Boyle Jr. of Barrington Hills,
4who was killed June 18, 2012, while working as a security
5contractor in Afghanistan; and
 
6    WHEREAS, He was born November 13, 1949, in Chicago to the
7late Thomas and Regina Boyle; he was known as a patriot who
8loved his country and a person who never stopped trying to
9assist others; and
 
10    WHEREAS, He was an United States Marine and 2-tour veteran
11of Vietnam, who earned the Cross of Gallantry; he served the
12Chicago Police Department for 30 years; upon retirement, he
13went on to work for a private detective agency, and then as a
14security contractor overseas; and
 
15    WHEREAS, In addition to the time he served in Afghanistan,
16he also served in Kosovo and Iraq, where he provided security
17and training in law enforcement; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Locally, he was personally responsible for
19capturing brothers Tyrone and Larry Strickland, who were later
20convicted of murdering Wheeling police officer Kenneth Dawson
21in November of 1985; he also recovered the weapon used in the

1fatal shooting; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Thomas J. Boyle Jr. is survived by his wife of 35
3years, Pauline (nee Hastings); and his son, Ryan (Andrea)
4Boyle; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
7his family and friends, the passing of Thomas J. Boyle Jr.; and
8be it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Thomas J. Boyle Jr. as a symbol of
11our sincere sympathy.
