HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to honor Chief Andy Bonomo on being fire chief for the York Center Fire Protection District for 25 years and being a member of the district for 40 years; and

WHEREAS, Chief Andy Bonomo is a second-generation member of the district; he worked his way up through the ranks to become fire chief; and

WHEREAS, The York Center Fire Protection District has been providing fire protection since 1948; the district provides quality fire and emergency medical services to approximately 4 square miles with 10,000 residents; the district consists of unincorporated areas of Lombard, Villa Park, Oak Brook, and Oakbrook Terrace; the district also protects approximately 3 miles of road way on Interstate 88; it has 2 full-time, 65 part-time personnel, and 2 chief officers; it operates out of the fire station located at 16th Street and Myers Road and is a ISO Class 4; and

WHEREAS, The York Center Fire Protection District values its members and their dedication to providing efficient and professional services to friends, family, and visitors to the district; professional pride, integrity, and trust are required of each team member; and

WHEREAS, The York Center Fire Protection District offers many services in addition to fire fighting; it offers CPR classes to residents and local businesses, installing smoke detectors for senior citizens, and fire inspections of business and residential homes; they host gatherings such as the annual open house during national Fire Prevention Week; and

WHEREAS, The York Center Fire Protection District will hold its Annual Awards & Recognition Dinner on Friday, December 14, 2012, at The Grotto in Oak Brook; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we are pleased to honor Chief Andy Bonomo on his 40 years of service to the York Center Fire Protection District and his 25 years as fire chief, and we wish him well in all his future endeavours; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Chief Andy Bonomo as an expression of our esteem and respect.
