HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Arthur P.
4"Art" Davis of Naperville, who passed away on October 2, 2012;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Arthur Davis was born June 4, 1940, in Hinsdale to
7Charles K. and Ann Davis; he grew up in La Grange and graduated
8from Lyons Township High School in 1958; he attended
9Northwestern University in Evanston and served in the U.S. Air
10Force (Air National Guard); he married Sandra A. "Sandy" (nee
11Riemersma) Davis on May 2, 1964; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Arthur Davis owned and operated Davis Automotive
13in Naperville with his wife from 1974-2011; he was past
14president of the Rotary Club of Naperville and past district
15governor of Rotary District #6450; he was past president of the
16Naperville YMCA board and a car enthusiast; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Arthur Davis was active in bringing the Rotary
18Club together with Easter Seals to raise funds to help children
19with autism; he was instrumental in raising nearly $250,000 to
20be put towards constructing a clinic in the Naperville area;

1    WHEREAS, Arthur Davis was preceded in death by his parents,
2Charles K. and Ann (nee Bovy) Davis and his brother, Charles K.
3Davis, Jr.; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Arthur Davis is survived by his wife, Sandy; his
5brothers, Thomas W. (Lori) Davis and Philip J. (the late
6MariFran) Davis; his 13 nieces and nephews; many great-nieces
7and nephews; and his brother-in-law, Grant L. (Shelly) Riemer;
8therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
10NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11we mourn the passing of Arthur Davis, and we extend our sincere
12condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
13him; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Arthur Davis as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
