SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
55 ILCS 5/2-5012.5 new

    Amends the County Executive Form of Government Division of the Counties Code. Provides that county board members shall receive compensation as fixed by the county board in accordance with the method of compensation selected by the county board. Provides that the compensation shall be set before the general election at which county board members are elected. Allows the county board chair to receive a larger salary than other county board members upon approval of the county board. Provides that county board members and the county board chair may receive, as approved by the county board, travel and expense allowances and stipends.

1    AN ACT concerning local government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Counties Code is amended by adding Section
52-5012.5 as follows:
 
6    (55 ILCS 5/2-5012.5 new)
7    Sec. 2-5012.5. County board compensation. County board
8members elected pursuant to this Division shall receive
9compensation as fixed by the county board in accordance with
10the method of compensation selected by the county board. The
11compensation shall be set before the general election at which
12county board members are elected. The county board chair may
13receive a larger salary than other county board members upon
14approval of the county board.
15    County board members and the county board chair may
16receive, as approved by the county board, travel and expense
17allowances and stipends.
