SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Thomas J. Monaco of Oak Park, who
4passed away on May 2, 2022 at the age of 73; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Thomas Monaco graduated from Ascension Elementary
6School in 1963, Fenwick High School in 1967, and Xavier
7University in 1971, where he formed many lasting friendships;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Thomas Monaco played an important role in
10developing Oak Park youth baseball, softball, and the
11Windmills; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Thomas Monaco was a supporter of many charitable
13foundations; he was especially dedicated to Misericordia; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Thomas Monaco was an organizer of many grand
15events, including the Annual Turkey Bowl, FAO, Crazy 8's, the
16Pig Roast, and Mardi Gras; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Thomas Monaco was an avid sports fan who loved
18watching the Chicago Blackhawks and never missed an Xavier
19basketball game; and

1    WHEREAS, Thomas Monaco was the true definition of a
2die-hard Chicago Cubs fan, meaning he would root for any
3opponent of the Chicago White Sox; he achieved his ultimate
4wish of seeing the Cubs win the World Series in 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Thomas Monaco was affectionately known as
6"Punch"; he will be remembered for teaching those around him
7all about loyalty, generosity, and friendship; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Thomas Monaco was the husband of Jane
9(McDermott); the father of Sarah, Thomas, Michael (Molly), and
10Anne (Jay) Hanz; the grandfather of Matthew, Max, and Morgan;
11the brother of Jane, Joseph, Robert, and William; and the
12uncle of many; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Thomas J. Monaco and extend our sincere condolences to his
16family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Thomas Monaco as an expression of
20our deepest sympathy.
