SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of James T. "Jim" Cox of Port Byron, who passed away on November 19, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Jim Cox was born to G. Thomas "Tommy" and Sandra "Sandy" (McNeal) Cox in Fort Meade, Maryland on December 5, 1970; being the son of a career naval serviceman, he grew up in multiple places and graduated from high school in Caribou, Maine; he served the U.S. Navy, where he spent his 12-year enlistment working in nuclear propulsion on submarines; he was honorably discharged in 2000; and

WHEREAS, Jim Cox worked as a training instructor at the Exelon Nuclear Generating Station in Cordova; over the course of his career, he held several leadership positions within the plant; and

WHEREAS, Jim Cox was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Port Byron; he enjoyed sports, especially hunting with his father and golfing, and he was an avid fan of the Washington Commanders; he was a loving father and husband and took great pride in his children and their achievements; and

WHEREAS, Jim Cox was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Cox, and his sister, Cher Hebert; and

WHEREAS, Jim Cox is survived by his parents; his wife, Tora Cox, and children, Billy and Katie Cox; his daughter, Jessica Cox; his brother-in-law, Mack Hebert; his sister-in-law, Donna Cox; and his nieces and nephews, Amber, Matthew, Tom, Ben, and Sarah; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of James T. "Jim" Cox and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jim Cox as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
