SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of James T. "Jim" Cox of Port Byron, who
4passed away on November 19, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jim Cox was born to G. Thomas "Tommy" and Sandra
6"Sandy" (McNeal) Cox in Fort Meade, Maryland on December 5,
71970; being the son of a career naval serviceman, he grew up in
8multiple places and graduated from high school in Caribou,
9Maine; he served the U.S. Navy, where he spent his 12-year
10enlistment working in nuclear propulsion on submarines; he was
11honorably discharged in 2000; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Jim Cox worked as a training instructor at the
13Exelon Nuclear Generating Station in Cordova; over the course
14of his career, he held several leadership positions within the
15plant; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Jim Cox was a member of the First United
17Methodist Church in Port Byron; he enjoyed sports, especially
18hunting with his father and golfing, and he was an avid fan of
19the Washington Commanders; he was a loving father and husband
20and took great pride in his children and their achievements;

1    WHEREAS, Jim Cox was preceded in death by his brother,
2Bill Cox, and his sister, Cher Hebert; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Jim Cox is survived by his parents; his wife,
4Tora Cox, and children, Billy and Katie Cox; his daughter,
5Jessica Cox; his brother-in-law, Mack Hebert; his
6sister-in-law, Donna Cox; and his nieces and nephews, Amber,
7Matthew, Tom, Ben, and Sarah; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10James T. "Jim" Cox and extend our sincere condolences to his
11family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Jim Cox as an expression of our
15deepest sympathy.
