SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Linda Lou Lyman-Weiman, Ph.D. of Santa
4Fe, New Mexico, formerly of Peoria, who passed away on August
510, 2022; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Linda Lyman-Weiman was born in Hutchinson, Kansas
7on March 29, 1941; she was the daughter of Burton and Doris;
8she received her Bachelor of Arts in English from Northwestern
9University in 1963; she earned her Master of Arts in Teaching
10in Secondary Education from Harvard University in 1964; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Linda Lyman-Weiman taught high school English in
12the Boston, Massachusetts and Omaha, Nevada areas for several
13years; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Linda Lyman-Weiman married John Gale in 1966, and
15they raised their family in Washington, D.C., Lincoln,
16Nebraska, and North Platte, Nebraska; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Linda Lyman-Weiman obtained her doctoral degree
18in Administration, Curriculum, and Instruction from the
19University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1990; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Linda Lyman-Weiman joined the faculty at Bradley

1University in 1990; she began teaching at Illinois State
2University in Normal in 1999, where she remained until she
3retired as a professor emerita on December 31, 2017; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Linda Lyman-Weiman authored and co-authored five
5academic books during her teaching career; after her
6retirement, she published a book of her poems; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Linda Lyman-Weiman married Dave Weiman in Peoria
8in October 2001, where they lived until they moved to Santa Fe,
9New Mexico in December 2019; together, they loved visiting
10family, enjoying old friends and making new ones, traveling
11near and far, listening to music, hosting dinner parties, and
12listening to the birds and feeling the breeze while relaxing
13in their urban garden; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Linda Lyman-Weiman is survived by her husband of
1521 years, Dave Weiman; her children, David (Kristine) Gale,
16Elaine Gale, and Steve (Chrissy) Gale; her grandchildren,
17Jack, Charles, Thomas, Tyler, Carter, and Jake; and her
18sister, Margo (Pat) Thompson; therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
20ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
21Linda Lou Lyman-Weiman, Ph.D. and extend our sincere
22condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved

2    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
3presented to the family of Linda Lyman-Weiman as an expression
4of our deepest sympathy.
