SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Mary Eleanor "Mae" Baptist; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Mary Baptist was born in Batchelor, Louisiana to
5Rev. Almond and Louida Baptiste on August 10, 1932; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Mary Baptist was a member of Third Baptist Church
7until she joined Powerhouse with her sisters, JoAnn and
8Georgia; she was a woman of deep faith; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Mary Baptist loved her family, reading the Bible,
10watching game shows and old black and white movies, playing
11bingo and card games, especially solitaire, and doing her
12puzzle books; she was kind to everyone she met and will be
13missed by many; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Mary Baptist had a unique talent; she could
15recite the alphabet backwards just as fast as she could recite
16it forward; funny sometimes, she assigned nicknames to some of
17her family members; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Mary Baptist was preceded in death by her
19parents; her brother, Norwood; and her sisters, Iola and
20Georgia; and

1    WHEREAS, Mary Baptist is survived by her sister, JoAnn
2Tribett; her nieces, Linda, Tonya, Yolanda, and Angelique; her
3nephews, Terry, Myron (Sylvia), Almond (Daphne), and Errol
4(Janet); 11 great-nieces; 10 great-nephews; her great-great
5nieces and nephews; her beautiful friends who took care of
6her, Veronica, Sandra, and Martha; and numerous family friends
7and cousins; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Mary Eleanor "Mae" Baptist and extend our sincere condolences
11to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be
12it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Mary Baptist as an expression of our
15deepest sympathy.
