HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to recognize the Theta Mu Lambda Charitable Foundation on the occasion of it hosting the 31st Annual Black and Gold Scholarship Gala; and

WHEREAS, The Theta Mu Lambda Charitable Foundation is a not-for-profit entity of the Theta Mu Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated; and

WHEREAS, The Annual Black and Gold Scholarship Gala raises funds in order to continue providing educational resources and scholarships for young African American students to expand their scholastic opportunities; and

WHEREAS, Alpha Phi Alpha firmly believes in creating resources, leadership skills, and tools for youth to realize their full potential; the fraternity is dedicated to building a foundation for the educational and personal development of future leaders; and

WHEREAS, Alpha Phi Alpha provides many community services, including scholarship awards funded by the Theta Mu Lambda Charitable Foundation in excess of $200,000 to date, the Leaders of Tomorrow mentorship program that provides mentorship and personal development through a six-month long program, Project Alpha leadership training, college tours, and many other educational programs; and

WHEREAS, The Annual Black and Gold Scholarship Gala's program theme for this year is "Pursuit of Excellence in Education"; and

WHEREAS, The Annual Black and Gold Scholarship Gala will honor community leaders with the Impact Award for their work with youth; and

WHEREAS, The 31st Annual Black and Gold Scholarship Gala will be held at the Odyssey Country Club on November 5, 2022; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize the Theta Mu Lambda Charitable Foundation on its 31st Annual Black and Gold Scholarship Gala, and we wish the foundation many more years of success; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Theta Mu Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated as an expression of our esteem and respect.
