HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Mary Lou's Grill of
4Carbondale on the occasion of its 60th anniversary; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mary Lou's Grill was originally opened by Mary
6Lou and Jim Trammel on Illinois Street in Carbondale in
7November 1962; the eatery moved to Illinois Avenue in 1976;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Mary Lou's Grill is now owned and operated by the
10original owners' daughter and son-in-law, Marilynn and Robert
11Martin, after Mary Lou Trammel retired in 1990; their
12children, Gary and Kyle Martin, also work in the restaurant;
13and
 
14    WHEREAS, Mary Lou's Grill has earned a reputation as the
15go-to place to get a home-cooked meal, becoming a famous
16dining destination location in Southern Illinois; and
 
17    WHEREAS, During its 60 years of service, Mary Lou's Grill
18has served folks from all walks of life, including students,
19families, and celebrities; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Mary Lou's Grill embarks on a daily mission to

1make sure everyone that walks through their door is treated
2like family; therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
4HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
5we congratulate Mary Lou's Grill on its 60th anniversary, and
6we recognize the Trammel and Martin families for their decades
7of service to Carbondale and Southern Illinois; and be it
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That we wish Mary Lou's Grill continued success
10in pursuit of its mission to provide its customers with
11home-cooked meals for decades to come; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the Martin family as an expression of our esteem
14and respect.
