AN ACT concerning transportation.
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
represented in the General Assembly:
The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by
changing Section 3-405.2 as follows:
(625 ILCS 5/3-405.2)
(from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 3-405.2)
The Secretary of State shall refuse
to issue any
license plates bearing a combination of letters or numbers,
both, which creates a potential duplication or, in the opinion
Secretary, (1) would substantially interfere with plate
law enforcement purposes, (2) is
misleading, or (3) creates a connotation
that is offensive to
good taste and decency.
(b) The Secretary of State shall not issue any license
plate or digital license plate that has installed or attached
thereto a global positioning system.
The Secretary may revoke any such plates
subsection (a) or (b)
issued previously. Any person
his or her plates revoked under this Section may acquire at no
new plates and any required stickers of the same
category and for the same
period of registration.
