SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Frederick Anton "Tony" Fleming of Athens, Georgia, who passed away on January 10, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Tony Fleming was a graduate of Briarcliff High School in Atlanta, Georgia and Georgia State University; he served his country with the United States Army 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina; and

WHEREAS, Tony Fleming worked as a journalist and was associated with Thomson Reuters for the past 9 years; he was an award-winning sports editor at the Americus Times-Recorder; and

WHEREAS, Tony Fleming enjoyed woodworking, being a wordsmith, sports, and music; and

WHEREAS, Tony Fleming was preceded in death by his father, William Torrance Fleming, Sr.; and

WHEREAS, Tony Fleming is survived by his wife, Faye Beck Fleming; his mother, Frederica L. Fleming Newsome (John P.); his brother, William T. "Buddy" Fleming, Jr.; his sisters, Katherine F. Cullerton (Jeffrey H.) and Laura F. McKellar (Russell D.); his aunts, Mary Linda Thomas and Virginia F. Matthews; his nephews, William T. Fleming, III, David W. McKellar, and Lewis M. Fleming; his nieces Meghan R. McKellar and Katherine G. McKellar; and his cousins and treasured canines; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Frederick Anton "Tony" Fleming, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Tony Fleming as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
