SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Bess K. Meersman, who passed away on December 26, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Bess Meersman was the owner and operator of the Bread Box Bakery and Strawberry Fields Catering in Moline; she was also a co-founder of Campaign Management Services, a campaign consulting firm, in the early 1990s; and

WHEREAS, Bess Meersman served as chairman of the Rock Island County Republican Party from 1992 to 2000; she also served on the Illinois Republican State Central Committee and was a delegate to the 1992 Republican National Convention; and

WHEREAS, Bess Meersman is survived by her husband, H. Moss Meersman, and her daughter, Marti Meersman; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of Bess K. Meersman; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Bess Meersman as an expression of our sympathy.
