SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Betty Marie Leslie, who passed away on
4November 30, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Betty Leslie was born on September 2, 1934 in
6Coldrum County, Minnesota; her parents were Edgar William and
7Marie Cecilia (nee Korll) Anderson; she married Albert J.
8Leslie on July 11, 1960 at Our Lady of the Lourdes Church in
9Little Falls, Minnesota; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Betty Leslie spent her childhood on the Minnesota
11farm and went on to study music at the MacPhail School of Music
12in Minneapolis, Minnesota; she brought her love of music to
13McHenry County and was active in many local organizations over
14the years, including the Woodstock Opera House, the McHenry
15County Chamber Singers, and the McHenry County Youth Orchestra;
16and
 
17    WHEREAS, Betty Leslie and her husband were active members
18of the Resurrection Parish; she was also a frequent volunteer
19at the First Way Life Center of Johnsburg; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Betty Leslie was a devoted mother; she enjoyed
21traveling and visiting her children in far-off places, such as

1Europe, Africa, and Thailand, and throughout the United States;
2and
 
3    WHEREAS, Betty Leslie was preceded in death by her beloved
4husband, Albert, and her parents, Edgar and Marie Anderson; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Betty Leslie is survived by her daughters, Marie
6(William) Schretzmann, Andrea (Steve) Fraley, Kirsten, and
7Regina; her son, John (Sukhon) Leslie; her grandchildren,
8Faith, Rangsiman, Patrick, Methani, and Elizabeth; her sister,
9Karen; and her brother, Gordon; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
12family and friends, mourn the passing of Betty Marie Leslie;
13and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Betty Leslie as an expression of our
16sympathy.
