SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Harrison Brooks "Jug" Paisley of Wood
4River, who passed away on October 11, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Harrison Paisley was born in Saint Louis,
6Missouri; he moved to Wood River as a child and was raised by
7his aunt, Garnetta (nee Moore) Stirnaman; he graduated from
8East Alton-Wood River Community High School and enlisted in the
9United States Naval Reserve in 1947; he married Patricia Ann
10Sparks in 1952 in Monterey, California; he served as an airman
11apprentice, airplane mechanic, and later qualified as a pilot,
12achieving the rank of Lieutenant; he served on the VS-23 USS
13Yorktown and flew PB4Y-2 Anti-Submarine aircraft during the
14Korean War; he retired from the Navy in 1968; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Harrison Paisley returned to Wood River following
16his time in the Navy; he worked for the city as one of the first
17managers of the Belk Park Golf Course and served Wood River in
18various positions from Finance Director and Building and Zoning
19to Acting City Manager; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Harrison Paisley was a member of the Wood River
21Lions Club, the Alton Eagles Aries #254, the Visitors Bureau,
22the River Bend Growth Association, and the Alton Sportsman

1Club; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Harrison Paisley was preceded in death by his wife
3of 56 years, Patricia; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Harrison Paisley is survived by his children,
5Cathy Paisley, Jan (Larry) Ringering, Marc Paisley, and
6Patricia (Seth) Hill; his grandchildren, Stephanie (SPC
7Michael) Cheatham, Jake (Allison) Ringering, and Julie (Jed)
8Downs; his great-grandchildren, Oliver Cheatham, Nora
9Ringering, Jaden Downs, Jerald Downs, and Jolene Downs; his
10sisters, Diane (Priest) Dalton; and his cousin, Linda
11Stirnaman; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Harrison Brooks "Jug" Paisley, and extend our sincere
15condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
16him; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Harrison Paisley as an expression of
19our deepest sympathy.
