SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Rosemary "Rosie" Donnelly Crowley Manning
4of Peoria, who passed away on August 16, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Rosemary Crowley Manning was born on May 24, 1931
6in Peoria; her parents were Harold and Marie (Kelly) Donnelly;
7she married William A. "Billy" Crowley Jr. on May 8, 1954; he
8passed away on February 22, 1984; she later married Robert E.
9Manning, Jr. on March 24, 2001; he passed away on July 22,
102013; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Rosemary Crowley Manning was a 1949 graduate of
12the Academy of Our Lady, where she earned the honor of May
13Queen and was involved in all the school's musical activities;
14she also was a proud member of the National Honor Society; she
15subsequently attended St. Mary's College in Leavenworth,
16Kansas on a voice scholarship and served as president of her
17freshman class; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Rosemary Crowley Manning was employed at Argonaut
19Great Central Insurance and Caterpillar Inc.; she later retired
20from Woodruff High School after 23 years of service; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Following her retirement, Rosemary Crowley

1Manning joined the Women of Woodruff club to stay connected to
2her friends; she worked as a cosmetic consultant for the Magic
3of Aloe for 40 years; she also served on the board of the
4Morton Civic Chorus and sang with the group for 15 years; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Rosemary Crowley Manning was a member of the
6Catholic Women's League and was a recipient of the
7organization's Angel Award; on June 5, 2011, Peoria Mayor Jim
8Ardis issued a proclamation designating "Rosie Crowley Manning
9Day"; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Rosemary Crowley Manning was an avid sports fan;
11her strong Catholic faith and Irish heritage made the
12University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team her
13number 1 passion, with Bradley University basketball following
14closely behind; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Rosemary Crowley Manning was a solo vocalist and
16choir director at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, where she
17beautifully sang and gladly served for almost 60 years; she
18also enjoyed performing singing telegrams to celebrate the
19arrival of new babies, birthdays, anniversaries, and
20retirements; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Rosemary Crowley Manning was preceded in death by
22her first husband, William Crowley; her second husband, Robert

1Manning, Jr.; her sister, Kathleen McQuellon; and her brothers,
2Hank Donnelly and Dick Donnelly; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Rosemary Crowley Manning is survived by her
4children, Karen (Bob) Metzinger, Debi (John) Redington, James
5(Gail) Crowley, William A. (Laura) Crowley III, and John
6(Chris) Crowley; her 13 grandchildren; her 2
7great-grandchildren; her step-children, Michael Manning,
8Lauren (Tom) Donlan, Linda Manning, Angela (Dan) Aeschliman,
9Robert (Kristen) Manning, James Manning, and Paul (Katie)
10Manning; her 18 step-grandchildren; her 8
11step-great-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law, Angela Crowley
12Kenny and Georgana Donnelly; her cousins that were raised with
13her, Jim (Gerrie) Kelly and Bob (Grace) Kelly; and her many
14other cousins, nieces, and nephews; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
17family and friends, mourn the passing of Rosemary "Rosie"
18Donnelly Crowley Manning; and be it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Rosemary Crowley Manning as an
21expression of our sympathy.
