SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Samuel Parker of Beach Park, who passed
4away on August 2, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Samuel Parker was born on February 17, 1924 in
6Burdette, Arkansas; his parents were Lonnie and Aree (Branch)
7Parker; he married Gussie Lee Bonner in 1942 in Catron,
8Missouri; in 1944, the couple moved to Illinois, where they
9lived in Zion, Waukegan, North Chicago, and Beach Park; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Samuel Parker was employed with American Motors in
11Kenosha, Wisconsin for 41 years; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Samuel Parker devoted his entire life to the
13service of his Lord, his family, his friends, and his
14community; in the 1960s, he joined Christian Valley Missionary
15Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and an associate
16minister; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Samuel Parker was preceded in death by his son,
18Charles Parker; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Samuel Parker is survived by his wife, Gussie Lee
20(Bonner) Parker; his sons, Samuel, Philip, Dennis, Lonnie,

1Bart, Danny, Adley, and Ted; his daughters, Terry Alhassan,
2Doris Coles, and LaWana Carter; his 29 grandchildren; his 21
3great-grandchildren; his brothers, Joseph and John; and his
4sister, Naiomi "Toy" Varnell; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
7family and friends, mourn the passing of Samuel Parker; and be
8it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Samuel Parker as an expression of
11our sympathy.
