SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Marlene J. Arvidson of McHenry, who passed away on August 13, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Marlene Arvidson was born on February 9, 1938, in Chicago to Irving and Mary (Walther) Keller; she married John F. Arvidson at Saint Paul's United Church of Christ in Crystal Lake on December 9, 1961; and

WHEREAS, Marlene Arvidson worked as a school crossing guard for the McHenry Police Department and then as a cook for 10 years with School District 156, retiring in 1991; and

WHEREAS, Marlene Arvidson was a member of the local parent-teacher organization and the Martha Society and Mary Circle at Saint Paul's United Church of Christ; and

WHEREAS, Marlene Arvidson was a collector of angels and enjoyed crafts, knitting, crocheting, and gardening; and

WHEREAS, Marlene Arvidson was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Robert Horyn; and her brother-in-law, Rolla Pratt; and

WHEREAS, Marlene Arvidson is survived by her husband of 51 years, John; her son, John Eric Arvidson; her grandson, Justin Arvidson; her sister, Eleanor Pratt; and her brother, William (Betty) Horyn; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Marlene J. Arvidson, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Marlene Arvidson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
