SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Michael J. LaHood of Peoria, who passed
4away on May 30, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Michael LaHood was born on December 11, 1944, in
6Peoria; his parents were Harry Jerome and Evelyn LaHood; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Michael LaHood graduated from Spalding High
8School in 1964, and went on to attend the University of Wyoming
9in Laramie, Wyoming on a football scholarship; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Michael LaHood served his country as a National
11Guardsman in the fall of 1968; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Michael LaHood played in the NFL from 1969 to 1972
13and the CFL from 1972 to 1974; in 1976, he returned to Peoria
14and became a laborer for Laborers' Local #165; he was later
15elected as an officer and served in multiple capacities before
16retiring as the business agent in 2001; he was most proud of
17his work to improve North Central Illinois Laborers' health and
18welfare benefits for his fellow brothers and sisters; and
 
19    WHEREAS, In his retirement years, Michael LaHood enjoyed
20spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and

1friends; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Michael LaHood is survived by his loving wife of
341 years, Judith Jackson; his children, Chezley (Jason) LaHood
4Schupp, Alyssa (Travis Goff) LaHood, Brittany (Brad) Conway,
5and Dayne (Molly) LaHood; his grandchildren, Jake Michael
6LaHood Barnewolt and Juliet Rae Conway; his sisters, Beverly
7(Dale) Bunch, Cindy (Bob) Kallister, and Brenda (Alex)
8Heuermann; his brother, Jerry (Angie) LaHood; and his many
9nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
12his family and friends, the passing of Michael J. LaHood; and
13be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Michael LaHood as an expression of
16our sympathy.
