SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of George Georgevits of Alton, who passed away on April 17, 2013; and

WHEREAS, George Georgevits was born on August 17, 1918, in Jersey County to John and Katherine Georgevits; he married Helen Marie Cason on December 31, 1940; he served his country in World War II as a sergeant in the U.S. Army and was a forward observer and radio operator; and

WHEREAS, George Georgevits settled in Alton and lived there his entire life; he operated a service station for many years; in the early 1970s he owned and operated his own brake shop in Godfrey; and

WHEREAS, George Georgevits was active in his church and community and was a member of Piasa Lodge #27; he enjoyed working with Pride on the Bucket Brigade and loved to camp, fish, and garden; and

WHEREAS, George Georgevits was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Helen; and

WHEREAS, George Georgevits is survived by his daughters, Sherry (Don) Wallace, Kathy (Danny) Ralston, and Mary (Gary) Johnson; his grandchildren, Sandy (David) Voss, Tammy (Randy) Boggs, Faron (Jill) Wallace, Kelly Wallace, Kim (Julian) Inniss, Nathan (Tiffany) Ralston, and Matthew Ralston; his 14 great-grandchildren; and his 4 great-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of George Georgevits, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of George Georgevits as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
