SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of George Georgevits of Alton, who passed
4away on April 17, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, George Georgevits was born on August 17, 1918, in
6Jersey County to John and Katherine Georgevits; he married
7Helen Marie Cason on December 31, 1940; he served his country
8in World War II as a sergeant in the U.S. Army and was a forward
9observer and radio operator; and
 
10    WHEREAS, George Georgevits settled in Alton and lived there
11his entire life; he operated a service station for many years;
12in the early 1970s he owned and operated his own brake shop in
13Godfrey; and
 
14    WHEREAS, George Georgevits was active in his church and
15community and was a member of Piasa Lodge #27; he enjoyed
16working with Pride on the Bucket Brigade and loved to camp,
17fish, and garden; and
 
18    WHEREAS, George Georgevits was preceded in death by his
19wife of 62 years, Helen; and
 
20    WHEREAS, George Georgevits is survived by his daughters,

1Sherry (Don) Wallace, Kathy (Danny) Ralston, and Mary (Gary)
2Johnson; his grandchildren, Sandy (David) Voss, Tammy (Randy)
3Boggs, Faron (Jill) Wallace, Kelly Wallace, Kim (Julian)
4Inniss, Nathan (Tiffany) Ralston, and Matthew Ralston; his 14
5great-grandchildren; and his 4 great-great-grandchildren;
6therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9George Georgevits, and extend our sincere condolences to his
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of George Georgevits as an expression
14of our deepest sympathy.
