SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of George Joseph Paynic, who passed away on
4January 16, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, George Paynic was born on September 14, 1929, in
6Granite City; his parents were Anthony and Frances (Kezele)
7Paynic Sr.; and
 
8    WHEREAS, George Paynic spent his entire life in the Wood
9River-East Alton area and began working as a young man in his
10father's shoe shop; after serving his country as a member of
11the United States Army during the Korean War, he returned to
12the area and began his work in funeral service, serving
13families for more than 50 years; and
 
14    WHEREAS, George Paynic was the founder of the George J.
15Paynic Home for Funerals, which he established in Rosewood
16Heights in 1989 and operated until 2011; and
 
17    WHEREAS, George Paynic was a past Governor and longtime
18member of the Wood River Moose #1349, earning the Pilgrim's
19degree; he was also a past Wood River City Councilman, a
2050-plus year Madison County Reserve Deputy Coroner, and a
21member of the Croatian Fraternal Union of America, Benld

2    WHEREAS, George Paynic was preceded in death by his
3parents; his brothers, Edward, Fr. Richard, Anthony, and
4Stephen Paynic, and his sisters, Helen Eich, Julia Paynic, and
5Rose Marie Bowler; and
 
6    WHEREAS, George Paynic is survived by his son and
7daughter-in-law, Joseph W. and Jennifer Paynic; his daughters
8and their spouses, Georgiann Ursch, Toni Blevins-Lucas,
9LaDonna Evans, Angela Paynic, Andrea Schenk, Trish Ursch, and
10Michaela Green; his many grandchildren and
11great-grandchildren; his brother-in-law, Eldon Bowler; his
12sister-in-law, S. Jean Paynic; and his many nieces and nephews;
13therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
16his family and friends, the passing of George Joseph Paynic;
17and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of George Paynic as an expression of
20our sympathy.
